POSITION SUMMARY

The Video Production Intern will support the Marketing Department. In this role, you’ll contribute to maintaining the Festival brand and promotions through storyboarding, layout, design and production of short 15-30 sec videos. This internship requires a minimum of 10 hours per week and must be available during Festival International week. We’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable and has access to video production programs, such as Adobe Premier Pro, After Affects, Final Cut Pro, along with basic graphic design knowledge. This person should also have basic video equipment such as an HD video camera and tripod. This person will work directly with the Marketing Director and will learn how to apply design knowledge and skills in the workplace.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist Festival International de Louisiane Marketing Department through Video Production – Film Video to help brand awareness on the following projects:

  1.  Lineup release: editing and cutting youtube snippets to compile one video, includes text overlay and transitional graphics
  2. Help with ideas for creating the video content and possible scripts for the Festival 5K, volunteer opportunities, Festival Pass, Mobile App, Pin & Poster, and Festival Merchandise
  3. Produce high-quality, innovative video shorts for Facebook and YouTube
  4. Assist in the pre-production process, including developing stories, concepts, and locations
  5. Help coordinate video production shoots with appropriate personnel, equipment, and tools6. Assist with audio recordings, editing, and production

General Support Functions

  1. Support Festival staff throughout the spring in various departments such as Development, Marketing, Programming, Production, and Executive areas
  2. Administrative support such as answering phones and assisting customers and board members with needs and questions.
  3. Attend monthly marketing committee meetings for input and feedback on promotions

During Festival

  1. Assists Social Media team with graphics and imagery
  2. Films high-quality b-roll and other footage during Festival International for commercial use
  3. Assists marketing chairs with pin and poster sales at kiosks
  4. Assists marketing chairs with merchandise tents and retail sales

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Junior or Senior majoring in Moving Media & Digital Arts or Moving Image Arts

• Portfolio examples required

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES

  • Junior or senior at a participating university or college
  • Knowledge of live recording
  • Experience with video editing software
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with all members of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and with a team consisting of some remote members
  • Strong technical aptitude to quickly and independently learn new technologies
  • Excellent oral, written, and organization skills
  • Must be comfortable interacting with subjects and providing clear direction from behind the camera
  • Must be in good standing with your college or university
  • Ability to work the week of Festival International – April 25-29, 2018

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Visual and manual dexterity is extremely important for this position. The job presents no work hazards beyond those normally present in an office environment.  Incumbent will be subject to performing sedentary to light work, exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally, and or/a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Incumbent will perform additional activities such as, reach overhead for items, stoop, bend and twist while working.  Other physical activities include talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions such as typing and dialing a telephone.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal for extended periods of time and read.  The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
