Any tips on preparing for Festival International de Louisiane?

  • The springtime weather in south Louisiana can range from pleasantly cool to very warm, so you will want to dress comfortable. T-shirts & tank-tops are available for purchase at the Festival Merchandise tents.
  • Bring along sunscreen for yourself and your family, as well as sunglasses. Downtown Lafayette has many shaded areas but the sun will be out at every stages!
  • A hat or a visor is a good idea. Don’t worry, if you forget your hat or lose it while dancing, we have plenty of Festival hats and visors available for purchase at the Festival Merchandise tents.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be dancing away during many Festival performances, standing in lines, and walking (or running) from stage-to-stage to see your favorite Festival performer!
  • You will want to keep hydrated. Beverages are available throughout Festival property!

Can children join the party?

We welcome guests of all ages! Our Scene des Jeunes is our designated children’s area located at Cathedral Carmel, and will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm with activities and bands geared towards children if you’re looking for some great family friendly entertainment!

If it rains, would the Festival be cancelled?

Festival is a rain or shine event, though festival hours are subject to change depending on the weather. Stay tuned with us for updates if any severe weather is to come about!

Are pets allowed on the Festival grounds?

While we love animals, we have a NO pet policy in the festival area. It may seem like a cool idea to bring your pet, but loud noises and large crowds are not good for animals.

Are there special accomodations for guests with disabilities?

We want all guests to have a fabulous Festival experience. For those disabled, we offer accessible viewing areas, restrooms, and transportation options.

Festival International is located on the streets and sidewalks of downtown Lafayette. Not all sidewalks are accessible, but many of the streets are closed to vehicles, and pedestrians walk in the street. There are accessible sidewalks along Jefferson Street, along Main St. from Buchanan to Jefferson, along E. Vermillion from Lafayette to Polk, and along the front of the federal courthouse on Lafayette St.

There are viewing areas reserved for people who need accessibility features near the stage at the Scène Laborde Earles Law Firm Fais Do Do and at the Scène LUS Internationale. You can access the ADA area at Scène Laborde Earles Law Firm Fais Do Do directly from Jefferson St., and at Scène LUS Internationale from the Garfield entrance.

There is at least one accessible port-a-let in each bank of portable restrooms at the Festival. Patrons who do not need accessibility features of these restrooms are asked not to use them.
