Reports to: Programming Director 


Under general supervision, this is an internship position responsible for assisting the Festival Programming Director, Production Area Manager, Area Coordinator. General office administrative duties include: working at the front desk, assisting staff with phone coverage, making copies and faxing files as needed. In the beginning of the semester, more general duties will be needed by festival office and will become heavier in the Scene des Jeunes area as the festival gets closer. Interns must be available to work all 5 days of the annual Festival for scheduled shifts. This is an unpaid position for the fall and/or spring semester.


Assist Festival International de Louisiane Programming Department through:

1. Assist with preparation and planning of activities for Scene des Jeunes.
2. Be available for meetings with Scene des Jeunes Planning Committee and area
managers leading up to the festival.
3. May assist the Programming Director with other various general programming duties
4. Assist Area Coordinator in recruiting volunteers and managing volunteer schedule
during the festival.
5. Set-up and tear-down of Scene des Jeunes during the weekend of festival.
6. Oversee the check-in and placement of volunteers at Scene des Jeunes.
7. Assist Area Coordinator with implementing curriculum guide for students.


  • Junior or Senior majoring in Education or Art Education.
  • Must be in good standing with their college or university.


  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Must possess superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week in Spring.
  • Must be in good standing with their college or university.
  • Must be self motivated and proactive. Must be a creative problem solver.


Visual and manual dexterity is extremely important for this position.  The job presents no work hazards beyond those normally present in an office environment.  Incumbent will be subject to performing sedentary to light work, exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally, and or/a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Incumbent will perform additional activities such as, reach overhead for items, stoop, bend and twist while working.  Other physical activities include talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions such as typing and dialing a telephone.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal for extended periods of time and read.  The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
