Three local music institutions partner for community support

Lafayette, LA – Festival International de Louisiane, Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, and Downtown Alive! Have partnered to create a music triangle of support.

The three organizations have provided free music celebrations for over 100 years, collectively.

“Music is the heartbeat of any culture. But in Acadiana, that heart beats so loudly because of our free music culture that allows anyone and everyone to see world-class live music without paying admission. Supporting this free music culture is so important to keep the music playing, for free. We wanted to make it easier for anyone who loves our free music festivals to give and be rewarded for their love,” said Kate Durio, Director of Marketing & Events, Downtown Lafayette.

Funding for each music event comes from various resources such as sponsorships, grants, donations and beverage sales. Supporters who would like to donate to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, Downtown Alive and Festival International de Louisiane, can now do so with one monetary donation through the website

‘We often refer to our events as “Free” and while in the strictest sense of the word they are they really are not.’ Says Patrick Mould, VP of Development and Programming for Festivals Acadiens et Creoles. “Each organization puts a tremendous amount of money into producing these events. All we are asking is that the general public, who enjoy these wonderful celebrations of our music and culture, take that into consideration by showing their support financially.”

A gift of $100 will go support all three festivals. In return, donors will receive thank you gifts from each organization, along with the knowledge that their contributions keep the music free.

“These events have been the heart of Lafayette for over a century. We want to make it easy for our community to support all three and get a little something in return.” Says April Courville, Marketing Director Festival International.
